SEM attaches great importance to scientific research. It actively encourages faculty to undertake programmes of different organizations, such as National Natural Science Fund, National Social Science Fund, Shanghai Municipal Government, and the “Action Plan” of Ministry of Education in order to explore issues of theory and practice emerging during the process of China’s involvement in the economy of globalization. Their research diversifies into various fields of economics and management, such as city management, technology management, enterprise management, finance management, macroeconomics, and many more. The scientific research scores great success and some are in the leading positions in China. In recent years, approximately 100 academic works and teaching materials have been published, and over one thousand papers have been published, among which over half are published on top state-rank journals and overseas academics journals.
The research of city development and management directed by SEM is one of the four major research directions of Tongji University. The research has claimed the leading position domestically. Furthermore, SEM has established two labs, namely “Tongji University—Autodesk BLM Joint Research Lab” and “City Management and City Informatization Lab”. Thus an academic echelon of engineering management informatization and city informatization has been formed and an academic research base has been established. In addition, SEM carries out diversified international academic exchanges to seize the discipline’s most cutting-edge developing trend. In particular, the achievements in Project Information Portal have already taken the leading position domestically. |
